Nicole Leighton, CRNP PMHNP-BC
Specializing in Women’s Psychiatry & Addiction Treatment
I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with a focus on women’s mental health and addiction treatment. My practice is dedicated to offering compassionate, evidence-based care to support women, female-identifying individuals, and non-binary individuals in overcoming mental health and substance use challenges.
I currently serve as the Lead Nurse Practitioner at Thomas Jefferson University’s Maternal Addictions Treatment Education and Research (MATER) program, where I specialize in treating substance use disorders and psychiatric conditions in pregnant and parenting women. This role allows me to offer a unique, holistic approach to mental health and addiction care, designed to meet the needs of individuals during one of the most crucial times in their lives.
Additionally, I am a Clinical Adjunct Faculty Member at Thomas Jefferson University’s College of Nursing, where I teach and mentor student psychiatric nurse practitioners. I am also proud to be part of the Addiction Medicine Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where I provide training for healthcare professionals on opioid use disorder treatment during pregnancy and harm reduction strategies.
I am passionate about treating both psychiatric and substance use disorders and my mission is to empower women in achieving their mental health and recovery goals, while addressing the unique challenges they face.
My professional memberships include the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and the Association of Addiction Professionals (NAADAC)
I live in Philadelphia with my husband, daughter, and our cat, Jenny.
Outside of work, I am dedicated to my family and advocating for better mental health care for women.
Currently, I am out-of-network but am in the process of credentialing with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna and United Health Care. In the meantime, I issue superbills for reimbursement to help make my services accessible to you.
